Big Dance Shorts

Funded by the British Council and Channel 4, and presented in association with BAFTA, Big Dance Shorts is back and offers an exciting, high profile platform for choreographic and directorial talent on screen. For 2014, Big Dance shorts focuses on the creative relationship between Brazil and the UK.

Five new dance films will be screened to live audiences across the UK during Big Dance Week 2014, as well as being broadcast on Channel 4 over the summer. Each film reflects a UK-Brazilian collaboration, and the relationship between dance and film is at the heart of all the ideas. The films are:


Monday 7 July at 23:35

Tuesday 8 July at Midnight
Movement director Jonzi D, directed by Margaret Williams


Wednesday 9 July at Midnight
Choreographed by Tamarin Stott and directed by Sergio Cruz


Thursday 10 July at Midnight
Choreographed and performed by Ponciano Almeida and directed by Bertie


Saturday 11 July at 00:15
Choreographed and directed by Jessica Wright and Morgann Runacre-Temple

All five films will also be shown at the Big Dance Pop Up Cinema on Thursday 10 July at 21:30.

The films are produced by MJW PRODUCTIONS LTD, one of the leading makers of dance-film in the UK and Dança em Foco festival in Brazil, an international dance film festival based in Rio de Janeiro.
