Big Dance Shorts 2012

The Big Dance Shorts 2012 series was commissioned by Channel 4, Big Dance and the British Council, and presented in association with BAFTA.

Big Dance Shorts is a partnership between Channel 4 and Big Dance that aims to stimulate new and creative collaborations between dance and film professionals, creating the opportunity to produce new and imaginative works for film.



THE HOLLOWAY LAUNDRETTE – in a sleepy laundrette a curious girl follows a mysterious young man through the door of a washing machine…

VIDA LONGA – visually rich and culturally loaded, Vida Longa is an intimate journey, a simple game, between one of the oldest and youngest Capoeira Masters in history. Directed by Bertie and Choreographed by Ponciano Almeida. Produced by Vicki Banwell for Bertie Films.

THE CLICK – two men embark on an epic physical journey evolving before your eyes. They seek to define and express the symbiotic relationship between rhythm and movement…or do they? A witty and lighthearted wink at contemporary dance! Directed by Heather Eddington and Choreographed by Pete Shenton & Tom Roden of New Art Club. Produced by Donna Harry & Nikki Parrott for Tigerlily Films.


DOUBLE TAKE – inspired by real-life events, Double Take is a story of family rivalry and reconciliation along a trail of forgotten memories. Directed by Sam Hodges and Choreographed by Ben Duke. Produced by Sophie Vickers for Greene Light Films.


SWIM – the ebb and flow of a journey to work.  An animated film Directed by The Brothers McLeod and Choreographed by Struan Leslie. Produced by The Brothers McLeod.
